Laugaren is an idealistic, volunteer-run floating sauna at USF Verftet in Bergen. Laugaren has quickly become one of Norway’s most celebrated sauna experiences, earning Sauna of the Year 2024 and the prestigious DOGA award for outstanding design and architecture.
Laugaren is a non-commercial project driven by over 150 dedicated volunteers. The low pricing ensures the sauna remains accessible to everyone, reflecting the community’s belief that bathing culture belongs to all. Beyond traditional sauna sessions, Laugaren hosts rituals and cultural events
The wood-fired sauna sits on the water at USF Verftet, one of Bergen’s most dynamic cultural venues. After heating up, bathers step out onto the deck and plunge into the fjord. A sauna master volunteer is always on hand to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Booking in advance is recommended.
