Oslo Badstuforening

Community floating sauna at Sukkerbiten

Oslo, Eastern Norway

Oslo Badstuforening operates Norway’s — and perhaps the world’s — largest floating sauna village at Sukkerbiten, located just outside the Opera House and the Munch Museum. Founded by sauna enthusiasts who wanted to bring Nordic bathing culture back to the city, this grassroots initiative has become one of the most iconic sauna experiences in Oslo.

The sauna village features 13 individual saunas — named Skarven, Anda, Havørnen, Havhesten, Måken, Albatrossen, Trosten, Tang, Tare, and the sauna boat Ulka Curie, among others — each with its own character and style. Saunas vary in capacity from 4 to 25 people. One sauna (Trosten) is universally accessible for wheelchair users.

Pricing

  • Shared sauna: 150 NOK (members), 250 NOK (non-members)
  • Rituals: 320 NOK (members), 400 NOK (non-members)
