Manshausen Island Resort was founded by polar explorer Børge Ousland — the first person to reach the North Pole solo — on a private island in the Steigen archipelago. The sauna was built from leftover materials from the resort’s construction and old slate roof tiles found on the island, and is designed by Stinessen Arkitektur.
The sauna and relaxation area connect to a central saltwater pool for cold plunging. The sea cabins on stilts above the water are award-winning architectural landmarks. Access is by boat from Steigen, and the sauna and sea pool are included for all guests.
