KOK Oslo

Floating fjord sauna in the heart of Oslo

Oslo, Eastern Norway

KOK Oslo operates floating saunas at two central waterfront locations — Aker Brygge and Langkaia — making it one of the capital’s most popular sauna experiences. Step into a wood-fired sauna built on a floating platform, then cool off with a plunge directly into the Oslo fjord.

The Experience

At the Langkaia location, the sauna sits right next to the Oslo Opera House with views of the Oslofjord. Aker Brygge offers panoramic views of Akershus Fortress and the city skyline. Both locations feature heated wood-fired saunas on floating platforms, with up to 10 people per private booking.

After heating up, guests step out onto the deck and descend a ladder into the fjord waters — refreshing in summer and truly invigorating in winter. The contrast between the intense sauna heat and the cold Nordic sea is the essence of the Norwegian sauna experience.

Practical Information

  • Booking required: KOK Oslo is extremely popular. Book well in advance, especially for weekends.
  • Swimwear: Required at all times.
  • Towels: Available for rent, or bring your own.
  • Food & Drinks: A small cafe serves warm drinks, snacks, and light meals.
  • Getting there: Short walk from Oslo Central Station. Take the pedestrian bridge to Sorenga.

Best Time to Visit

Winter sessions offer the most dramatic experience — imagine steaming in a wood-fired sauna as snow falls around you, then plunging into near-freezing fjord water. Summer visits are more relaxed, with the option to swim and sunbathe between sauna rounds.
