Kristiansand’s guest harbour has long been one of the liveliest spots along the Skagerrak coast, and the opening of Blaudkokt Gjestehavn in March 2026 added an entirely new dimension to the harbour. Positioned at the outer pier of Kristiansand Gjestehavn, this land-based communal sauna is a separate venue from the floating Blaud sauna at Nodeviga. Here, the sauna tradition is brought right into the heart of the city harbour, within walking distance of the seafront promenade.
Communal Sauna by the Sea
The sauna holds up to 15 people and is heated with an electric stove, delivering an even, comfortable warmth well suited to longer social sessions. The communal format follows Scandinavian tradition: guests arrive, sweat together, and then jump straight from the pier into the harbour water. The combination of a city-centre location and genuine sea bathing makes Blaudkokt Gjestehavn unusual among urban saunas — there is no pool substitute here, just the sea.
The Blaud team, already known from their floating sauna at Nodeviga, has brought the same commitment to quality and atmosphere to this new permanent venue. Sessions can be booked via the Blaud website, and the communal setup makes it equally well suited to solo visitors looking to meet people and to small groups seeking a pleasant evening on the waterfront.
Location and Setting
The outer pier at Kristiansand Gjestehavn is one of the most beautiful spots in the city, with direct views over the harbour mouth toward Odderøya. It is less than a ten-minute walk from the centre, and the surroundings — with boats and open water on every side — give the sauna a genuinely maritime atmosphere even though it sits on solid ground. After a session, the harbour front restaurants and bars are a short walk away.
For visitors already moored in the guest harbour or exploring Kristiansand by boat, Blaudkokt Gjestehavn is a natural extension of the harbour experience — a place to warm up, relax, and meet other seafarers and city dwellers alike.
